RIP! Telugu Screenwriter Sri Ramana passes away at 70

MUMBAI: Well known veteran screenwriter Sri Ramana aka Kamaraja Rama Rao, sadly passed away after battling prolonged illness at the age of 70. He was known for his incredible and unique storytelling abilities. His passing has caused a huge void in the industry. Known for his invaluable contributions in Telugu cinema and literature, Sri Ramana was unwell for a long time.

He was known to be a distinguished writer and journalist. He received immense acclaim from writing the screenplay of 'Mithunam' (2012), which starred singer-actor SP Balasubrahmanyam and Lakshmi. The story was adapted from Ramana’s own novel with the same name. The film received the renowned Nandi Award presented by the state government.

Ramana adopted the pen name Akshara Thuneeram and rose to fame after writing engaging articles for weekly magazines. Some of his notable works include Joki Jyoti', 'Sri Chanel', 'Pandari', and 'Mogali Rekulu'.
