Ramayan now on broadband

NDTV Imagine and BIGFlix (Reliance’s movie rental service) have come together to offer<em> Ramayan</em> on BIGFlix's broadband website. The episodes of <em> Ramayan</em> will now be available for viewers not only in India, but also to viewers across the globe for free viewing and / or for download as low as $ 1.49 per episode. <em> Ramayan</em> will be available on broadband for the first time exclusively to BIGFlix as a 24 x 7 channel on the site. The website will also host episodic trailer/promos that will help the viewers to choose the episode they would like to watch or download.

Now 9X’s mytho Jai Maa Vaishno Devi

Channels are now turning to the Gods to ramp up their TRP charts and break the clutter from the routine <em> saas-bahu</em> sagas. After NDTV's <em> Ramayan </em>, STAR introduced Mahabharata and Sony too followed suit and decided to re-telecast <em> Jai Hanuman</em>. Now a little birdie tells us that 9X is also joining the bandwagon and have approached veteran producer Dheeraj Kumar to produce a mega devotional show for them.

The race to heaven

The channel war hots up and how. Earlier channels were fighting each other over <em>saas bahu </em> serials. Then came the comedy brigade. After which it was reality shows, which will predictably still continue in 08. And as the new channels spring up by the day on unsuspecting audiences programming heads pull out all the stops to leverage their channel. One such valiant effort to resurrect old channels and infuse new blood in recently launched channels is through mythologicals.

Now Ramayan on NDTV

Mythologicals have worked magic on Indian television time and again. Cashing on to this age-old successful formula is NDTV Imagine who now presents <em> ‘Ramayan</em>.’ Produced by Sagar Arts, the family that introduced mythology on television, this age old classic is retold with grand sets, new star cast and lilting music. The all-new <em> Ramayan</em> will air Monday to Thursday at 9:30 p.m. from 21 Jan.
