Only three shows old producer duo Guroudev Bhalla & Dhaval Gada has proved that they are here in the industry to narrate some unconventional tales on small screen. Guroudev’s shows Udann and Dil Ki Baatein Dil Hi Jaane definitely provided the viewers with a breath of fresh air.
Now, all set to launch Baazigar on Life OK and an upcoming project on Star Plus, Guroudev, for sure is one of the most promising show makers in the industry now. In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar.com, the man spoke about his on-going show Udann, upcoming ventures, trends on television and many more.
Firstly, your debut venture Udann did wonders on small screen. What is the success mantra according to you?
To be very honest lots of factors contributed to the successful run of Udann. While the character of Chakor struck the right chord with audiences’ heart, the distinguishing storyline of the series connected with the heartland with India. See, our viewers are more interested in the story of the victims. They prefer to be fair with those who have been wronged. Any individual has the inherent tendency to protect the victim and the same sentiment worked in favour of Chakor. And Udann has always been Chakor’s story. Moreover, I would like to state my gratitude towards Raj Nayak, Manisha Sharma, who all had enough faith on the storyline.
Even after having a heart warming storyline and big faces like Ram Kapoor, Gurdeep Kohli, Dil Ki Baatein didn’t work out. According to you what is the reason behind the show’s moderate success?
Well, lot of things depend upon the success of a show. Though Dil Ki Baatein was a well presented material, we couldn’t do justice to it. During that time we had to make few changes as per the broadcaster’s will, but neither had we enjoyed the process nor should we have listened to them. I accept that it was indeed a fault on our part to not proceed according to our own storyline. Having said that I will mention that all bygones are the matter of past now, things have changed and in future you can witness us working with the channel once again.
You are coming up with a show on Star Plus, which is based on the life of noted filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. What is the reason behind narrating Mahesh Bhatt’s life saga?
Let me make one thing clear, our upcoming venture is not based on Mahesh Bhatt’s life. And that is the reason that we have chosen a girl to play the role of the protagonist in the series. It is just that few incidents of our story are inspired from Mahesh Bhatt’s life and nothing more.
Guroudev and Dhaval together are known to present some original contents. From the storyline that has been revealed Rishton Ka Saudagar Baazigar seems to be a series where a girl cheated in love will seek for revenge from her betrayed lover. So, why are you opting for the age old drama?
All I can say to answer your question is, don’t judge a book by its cover. I can assure you and my viewers to expect something unexpected from the series. But, now, I believe the time is not right to speak much about the series, hence will not reveal everything. Once the channel declares anything, we will talk about it.
After turning producer what is more important for you, good content or business?
See, I work as a creative producer for my shows. As I was a director earlier, creativity is the most important factor for me, which comes before money making. I believe on spending my money on creative capital.
You and Dhaval have different personalities, what keeps you two churning out successful projects together?
I believe that we compliment each other. Our basic understanding of creating good content is same and that I think keeps us going together.
Are you keeping an eye on Bollywood?
Yes, definitely, why not? I hope that soon you all can see us on big screen as well. But, currently I am very happy with television and even when I enter Bollywood it will not be at the cost of leaving television. We will continue with our ventures on small screen.
We wish you luck for the same Guroudev.
