Talented actor and anchor Gunjan Utreja gears up for yet another hosting challenge with the singing reality show on &TV, The Voice India. After hosting shows like Shukriya, Aamna Saamna, Indian Princess Season 3, this anchoring assignment will add yet another feather in his cap!!
So what does it take to be a successful anchor, we ask Gunjan!!
Says Gunjan, “Anchors are born. You can learn various other performing arts. But you cannot train anyone to be a good host. It’s like singing. With training, you can become a good singer, but if you don’t have the ‘sur’ and ‘taal’ in you, no one can train you.”

An anchor is the backbone of the show. A good anchor can take the show to a whole new level. Anybody can host a show, but only the best can handle crisis. Life is unpredictable and anything can go wrong during a show. You need to be intelligent, sharp, witty, spontaneous and composed to handle a situation like this. As a host, you have to be in control of things and have to think 10 steps ahead of everyone around you. It’s easier said than done. That's why you cannot train anyone to be an anchor.
You need to have the gift of the gab.
Apart from this, you surely need to be well-read.
You should have a great command over the language.
For visual mediums, if you can groom yourself with a fit body, it’s surely a plus point.
But most importantly, you need to continue to hone your skills every day. You need to learn every single day.
The more you learn, the more confident you will feel.
