TV actors appeal to quit smoking on #WorldNoTobaccoDay

World No Tobacco Day

Tobacco kills nearly six million people each year, of which more than 6, 00,000 are passive smokers.

Today (31 May), on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day,  TV folks talk about the issue and appeal people to quit smoking...

Adaa Khan: Anti Tobacco Day is surely a good idea to spread more awareness. The habit of smoking, need to be addressed at the root level, to eradicate it completely. It’s sad that at public places people end up doing passive smoking.

Rohan Gandotra: Tobacco smoking is not only adversely affecting the smokers but the second-hand. This ‘No Tobacco Day’ I will take the initiative by alarming my family, friends, fans and unknowns, both personally and through social media, about the ill effects of passive smoking. A single day can also makes a lot of difference, and the most effective way to protect those around you is to quit smoking!

Rajshri Rani: Everyone knows smoking is bad for health yet people don't want to leave the habit. Actors can influence their fans and it is a good moment to spread awareness. I always discourage my friends from smoking. No one can quit in one day but effort needs to be made by taking initiative.

Mohammad Nazim: I am against tobacco and smoking. Passive smoking can be injurious too. We must have awareness programs to make people leave the habit of smoking.

Jayashree Venkataramanan: There have been measures that are being taken to spread the awareness. Like there are so many ads and short films that constantly play in theatres and on TV which has been able to play an instrumental role. Cigarette prices have also increased.

Ankit Gera: Everyone has heard the famous line from Maine Pyar Kiya, Cigarette smoking is injurious to health (Sehat ke liye hanikarak hota hai). It's time we all follow it. Life is more important than the addiction. People shouldn't smoke at public places at all.

So stub the butt today!!!
