MUMBAI: Star Plus' historical drama television series Vidrohi which premiered last year in October 2021 went off-air this year on 5th March. 

The show starred Sharad Malhotra, Sulagna Panigrahi and Hemal Dev in the roles. 

The series was based on the times of the pre-independence British Era and explored the life-journey of Odia freedom fighter Bakshi Jagabandhu.

Hemal played the role of warrior princess Kalyani in the historical drama series and was lauded for her performance. 

As the show went off-air a few days ago, TellyChakkar got in touch with Hemal who spoke about her journey in the show and much more. 

How was your journey in Vidrohi?

It was my first-ever journey on Indian television. This was my debut on TV and I felt great working for this show. I was glad to do a character that was so strong and inspiring. More than anything else, I am taking memories and a lot of lessons with me. So, it's very special. 

Did your character Kalyani motivate you in any way? Is there any quality you will imbibe of Kalyani in your real life?

Kalyani has completely inspired me in real life. Her character was so well-written. She is an ideal character, she is inspiring, she has a good heart, so, it has inspired me to become a better version of myself. My female fans often message me and tell me that they want to become like Kalyani. 

After your debut show on TV, do you want to try out in OTT platforms and music videos or do you want to stick to TV and explore new roles?

I did my OTT show and then I did Vidrohi. I will definitely like to do more OTT and I plan to do so. My OTT show 1962 War In The Hills that is streaming on Hotstar, was actually a stepping stone to come to Star Network with Vidrohi. The content in OTT is changing very fast. I am looking forward to doing more work on OTT. It's like I did everything else and then did a TV show. I don't plan to just stay here forever. I want to experiment.
