"We are the ones who have been wronged!"

It's been proved time and again that there are always two sides to a story! Abhimanyu Singh of Contiloe Films spoke to Tellychakkar.com's Ananya Sengupta to give his side of the controversy that broke out recently on the sets of his show, Wild Boys. The controversy: Mohammad Harish Khatri is a model who alleged that he was beaten up during a stunt for a game show produced by Contiloe Films. The production house allegedly paid the man Rs 6,00,000 as compensation. In a statement given to a city tabloid, Khatri claims that the production house has slapped a case of extortion against him in a bid to get him arrested. He was granted anticipatory bail on 27 April. What exactly happened? We were shooting for a pilot episode of our show with six contestants. I came into the picture when I was told that three of my people who were working on the show were picked up by the cops under an allegation by one of the contestants. Harish Mohammad Khatri was the losing contestant and when I went to the station he confronted me and threatened dire consequences if I failed to pay up the money he wanted. This was around 11:30 pm sometime in March. I somehow got together the money and paid him off around three at night! Why didn't you file a case of extortion then and there instead of paying him off? See, at that point of time, Khatri was dropping big names and I didn't know who we were dealing with. Anyways, I had to pay because I had to free my men! How much time did it take for you to file the case finally? Immediately after this incident I had gone to attend the Commonwealth Games. I think I had filed the case in about 10 days time. I filed a case of extortion. We are in this business, I have to do other shows as well. I can't let him go! Soon after that the cops stared enquiring and the truths about him came out! If he were not guilty he wouldn't have gone to the press...and my question is why did he wait for a month before going to go public with his allegations! Why did he take anticipatory bail? If I were wrong then I should have been the one to take anticipatory bail, not he! We are the ones wronged here! He could have gone to the court of law, as we did. But he chose to go to the press. What about the scars on his face? Anyone can take a before and after snap and go to the press! He has painted them himself. There were no injuries. If it happened as he claims then why didn't the others say anything? Infact we had taken every precaution that we could for the shots. We even had an ambulance in place. We told them what they were getting into, including getting them to sign indemnity forms, where they have consented to all that was part of the show. So what's your next course of action? The law will take its course. Money is not that important, all I want is justice. No one should think that we can be threatened in this manner! We had to go after him only because of that!
