MUMBAI : One of the most significant skills one can develop in life is the ability to turn problems into opportunities. While talking about this, one name that comes to our mind is Bula Choudhury.
Well, the lady who started learning swimming at an early age holds many records. Choudhury is the first woman to cross seven seas. The Arjuna and Padma Shri Awardee swam the English Channel first in 1989 and again in 1999.
But do you know why she learnt swimming?

Although she participated in many events when she was young, but her main goal to learn swimming was something different. Well, according to reports, her father had almost drowned while swimming in a pond. A stranger had rescued him. After facing this serious problem, her father had decided that his children would learn swimming, no matter what.
There’s another problem that Choudhury turned into an opportunity. As mentioned in the headline, the swimmer is allergic to sea water. Her skin was burning and itching, but she swam across the English Channel. Speaking about the same, she had told The Better India in an old interview, “I wished that it would get over quickly, but quitting was never an option. The discomfort only made me swim faster and better.”
