MUMBAI: Be a dancer or a musician or a sports personality, everyone wants his family to be a part of or witness the best moments of his life. However, the same could not happen with former Indian Cricketer Mohammad Kaif!

Kaif was born in a middle-class family, and his father was also a cricketer, who played for the Railways cricket team and the Uttar Pradesh cricket team.

The cricketer who started his career from Green Park Hostel, Kanpur went on to represent India on the international level. He was famous for his agility and throwing accuracy.

Now, for all the fans and followers of cricketer Mohammad Kaif, here’s an interesting story.

Did you know his family missed witnessing one of the best moments of his life? Well, his parents didn’t watch his final winning knock of NatWest series 2002. Yes, you read that right!

The NatWest tri-series 2002 final between England and India is a memorable moment for every Indian fan. It is here that Kaif played the best knock of his life, but his parents missed witnessing the same on TV.

The cricketer appeared on the show Breakfast with Champions and shared why his parents missed witnessing his special moment. He said, “It was an opportunity for me to prove all the hard work that I had done from my childhood and this was something I didn’t want to let go. And I remember when Sachin (Tendulkar) was walking out after getting dismissed and as I was entering the Lord’s ground, it was a common belief that when Sachin gets out, India used to lose the match. In fact, my parents went for a movie after Sachin got out, they went for Shah Rukh‘s Devdas, in a theatre near my house. Didn’t see their son play. When we won the match, the entire colony came to my house, saw the door locked. They thought the family has done this themselves since Kaif won them the match.”
