24 was a special show and Paanch was an offer I just could not resist taking up - Kiran Srinivas

Kiran Srinivas
When you have a sexy and good looking guy playing a baddie in your show, you can be assured that he will garner the required eyeballs. And treading on the same path is actor Kiran Srinivas who played a negative character in Colors’ path-breaking show 24. The young lad is now back in Channel V’s Paanch- 5 Wrongs make a Right (Sunshine Productions) as Roy. When we quizzed the actor about his interest of playing a negative character, he smiled and said, “It’s not that I love it, but then every actor wants to do good roles and I am no different. Getting such great offers is not so easy, so I am just utilizing the offers. But I must say playing negative is very exciting.” So does it mean that you are enjoying being negative on screen? “I think so! Since I am really different in real life it’s challenging to make your character look convincing. And that’s the job of an actor, so it’s pretty fun,” Kiran averred with a smile. How has been the reaction from friends and family, we asked. “Friends close to me enjoy watching me as they haven’t seen me playing a negative character. As for my mom, she refuses to believe that I can play someone so mean,” laughed the young lad. Kiran who had started his career down South feels that no medium is small today. He quipped, “When you can have something like 24 on TV, how can it be called small screen. I don’t differentiate between mediums and just believe in doing good work. 24 was a special show and Paanch was something I just could not resist.” Does he plan to move to films once again? “I would love to work in both simultaneously. I will soon be doing Feroz Nadiawala’s Welcome 2 and I am pretty excited about it. And I must say TV has a larger reach and you get more recognition through it. People talk about long working hours on TV, but strangely I am actually enjoying it. It’s such a lively environment and getting to play a character so not me is definitely fun. Trust me, I look forward to my shoots,” he quipped. Talking about his character Roy in Paanch, he added, “He is a misunderstood guy who wants to fit in with his groups. He is kind of a rebel but also has some good elements in him that he wants to be hidden. And just 19 years of age, he has fallen in the web of drugs and is out from rehabilitation.” “The whole team is young and lovely and we have loads of fun on the sets. Being a bunch of foodies, we enjoy bringing home-made food and relishing them. All of us are thoroughly professional and work hard to better our performances in the show,” Kiran concluded with a smile. Way to go, young boy!!!
