Abhinandan Jindal: Social media is side-lining script and craft

MUMBAI: Now, along with working on your acting skills, you need to work on your Instagram-posting skills as well, says Abhinandan Jindal. The Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega actor says that an actor’s social media has clearly become more important than even what they do on screen. “I don’t think much about what I want to post and when I will post. Nowadays, it is a struggle to decide what to post on Instagram. I got to know about reels on the set of Guddan… and I had to force myself to post a reel. It’s distracting actors from regular work and life. Your main priority is your script, your craft but this all is getting sidelined. I am a very young guy and I don’t have an orthodox kind of mentality but still, I am saying this because my sentiments are getting hurt. This is a commercialised business and nothing good is happening. Entertainment comes through hard work and not with just a 15-sec video! I am really shocked to see this,” he says.

In fact, social media needs to be a window to for the viewers to learn more about their favourite celebrity, he says, “See Leonardo, he doesn’t post his own pictures. He only posts nature-pictures. See Sachin Tendulkar, he posts captions. Being public figures, you should thank the audience and people who want to become like you, you should motivate and help them. You should share your failure stories so that people get motivated. I think is the best way to use social media,” he says.

Of course, social media has a lot of advantages as well, says Abhinandan. “Definitely, there is a positive side to social media because now no one has that much time that we can meet face-to-face. Social media is a great platform to make people aware of stuff too. But we should use it in a good way,” he says.
