MUMBAI: Actors Shaheer Sheikh and Hina Khan first came together for a music video, Baarish Ban Jana which broke several records and was a huge hit. People fell in love with their chemistry and the two actors found good friends in each other. The two recently reunited for another song, Mohabbat Hai and once again created magic with their chemistry. Recently, Hina and Shaheer both joined ETimes TV for an exclusive chat and talked about their crackling chemistry, their friendship and the respect they have for each other as actors.

Hina said, “I don’t know for us also it is a big mystery when we think about it. I think when we met, we just hit the right chord and as of now, we are happy about it. I don’t know when we start fighting” (laughs).

“See I feel when two real people meet, this is a kind of friendship that comes out. We were not pretending to be someone. We were not showing to the other person how big a celebrity I am. She could have done that because she's such a big star but she did not do that and she was extremely friendly,” Shaheer said.

The ‘Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi actor further said, “I always try not to judge someone at the first meeting. I take my time to form an opinion about someone. So, I remember telling her the next day that I really admire how aware you are of the scene. She knows where the light, camera are and she will also remind me, Shaheer now we have to do this or do that. I was blown away by that.”

“I told her “yaar Tum Kabhi relax bhi kiya karo yaar, itni mehnat kyu karrti ho”. This is amazing and she’s so talented and you automatically respect her. When you have a co-actor who is so talented you also want to do better and she helped me to give my best all the time,” he added.

According to Hina, she felt very comfortable with Shaheer and said she did not have to push herself. “The song had few romantic scenes so I did not push myself. Like if I am working with a new actor, I tend to keep an eye on him, how he is because I am a huge cleanliness freak. So, it is very important for me to know who I am working with especially if I am doing a romantic scene. Touchwood I have never faced something like that and all my co-actors have been great. With Shaheer I felt very comfortable and we didn’t even realise when we hit that right chord and kind of connection with each other.”

“On the very first day itself, we had that comfort level that we were thinking as if we have known each other for the past 10 years. He made me comfortable and I was comfortable with him, I would like to give him that credit. As actors, the most important thing when you are working with a fresh co-actor is how comfortable that actor is making you feel. How the performance is or how it is going to become secondary. I may learn a few things from him and vice versa. And we gave that comfort and space to each other.”

“Whenever I visit a new place, I speak less and I take a little time to open up. But Hina’s energy is so contagious, she’s always on fire. Let’s do this and that. She is a fireball, and that energy rubbed on to me also and I became a part of it. She is a khushmizaaz (happy-go-lucky) person,” Shaheer said.

Reacting to Shaheer, Hina said, “What I really liked about Shaheer was his carefree nature. I remember with all due respect due to some reason during our first shoot, his staff couldn’t reach Kashmir where we were shooting that day. And it was commendable how he managed that day. He did not throw his weight around or had any tantrums.

“He had a small mirror in which he was doing his hair and everything. In fact, I felt so bad I asked him if I should hold the mirror for you. I really liked his carefree attitude and nature. He did not make a fuss about it and this is a skill that I would like to learn from him. It really attracted me to him and it is such a nice thing.”

Shaheer: I wish there was something like that. See I am a very straightforward person, If I don’t like something I straight away say it on the face. There are people who find me rude. But that’s fine, that is their opinion. I can’t hide anything or pretend to be nice if I am not feeling. Hina interrupts.

Hina: I would like to really clear this air that he’s not rude. We have had these amazing conversations. Whatever time we’ve spent with each other and we have had numerous conversations with Shaheer on this topic about how he is in real life and he has his certain reservations but he’s never rude. We have to accept people how they are. I’ve made peace with it when he doesn’t answer my calls or replied to my messages for multiple days (jokes and the two laugh out loud). It’s not important to converse with each other on a daily basis even if you are the best of friends or be in touch every day. I don’t think that’s how I work when it comes to relationships. We may not converse with each other for weeks but the day we meet, we will have a blast and party.

He’s lazy, he doesn't message and he would not revert. He won’t ask you how you are. He just disappears like a ghost. A lot of people say that he's very introvert and doesn’t socialise, but I feel he’s very expressive. And he’s very transparent as a person. If he feels something about me, he won’t hide it, he will tell me. So, I like that quality about him that he’s very expressive.
