MUMBAI: Renowned for her dynamic presence both on-screen and off, celebrated television actress Nyrraa M Banerji continues to captivate her audience. Having made a name for herself in Hindi television and South Indian cinema, Nyrraa recently showcased her fearless persona on popular reality shows Khatron Ke Khiladi and Bigg Boss.

Although she’s taken a step back from television projects following her stint in the Bigg Boss house, she remains creatively engaged, currently performing in the stage production of Akbar Birbal.

In an exclusive conversation with TellyChakkar, Nyrraa shares her candid views on the reported cancellation of two of television’s most talked-about reality shows and reflects on how the core essence of such formats has changed.

Nyrraa, there’s buzz around Bigg Boss and Khatron Ke Khiladi being scrapped this year. What’s your take on this development?

From what I’ve heard, Endemol has pulled out, though I’m not entirely sure about the exact reasons. Personally, I do feel Bigg Boss might still happen, possibly with a different production house at the helm. That could actually be exciting, a fresh approach, a new launch. However, I must say, I do believe the show has strayed from its original path. It used to be about witnessing celebrities in their raw, unfiltered form. Over time, it feels more like the show is being run to meet specific narratives, rather than letting the audience decide its flow. The heart of the format should lie with the viewers.

Do you believe the inclusion of social media influencers contributed to this shift?

I wouldn’t say it backfired entirely. Influencers did bring drama and yes, some level of entertainment — but in that process, the real essence of the show was diluted. It wasn’t the best move in hindsight. The magic of Bigg Boss was always about authenticity. That’s what people connect with.

Despite the changing format, there's no denying that Nyrraa left a lasting impression during her time in the Bigg Boss house. A fan-favourite, she stood out for her strength, authenticity and unwavering charm, earning widespread love and admiration.

As audiences await the fate of these iconic shows, Nyrraa’s honesty and insight into the industry remind us why she continues to be one of the most respected voices in the world of entertainment.
