After the success of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, BBC is back with yet another interesting concept which is based on the popular International show ‘The Baby Borrowers’. The show will have five television couples locked in a house and will be required to look after a baby. Informs a source from the industry, “The show apparently will have two married and three unmarried couples. Gurmeet Choudhary – Debina Bonnerjee and Shilpa Saklani – Apurva Agnihotri are almost finalised on the show. TV's latest couple Mouni Roy and Gaurav Chopra too are keen on doing this show. The couples will be locked somewhere outside Mumbai for approximately a month and they will have to babysit children of different age groups.” Another source informs, “The show is in its nascent stages and the production house has approached almost all the television couples. The list includes Shraddha Niigam – Karan Singh Grover, Kirti Gaikwad – Sharad Kelkar, Reshmi Ghosh – Amit Gupta, Sai Deodhar – Shakti Anand and Shilpa and Abhijit Sawant. As of now Sai – Shakti and Sharad – Kirti have been ruled out. The show is expected to launch sometime in September.” Saul Nasse, BBC Worldwide Content and Productions India GM and Creative Head, said,"we will be issuing a release on the show very soon." The show is tipped to be on NDTV Imagine. About the show: The Baby Borrowers is a reality TV show produced by Love Productions for BBC Three. Each week a couple sets up a home and become parents beginning with a baby, then a toddler, pre-teens, teenagers, and finally elderly adults over the course of one month. The couples will participate in pre-natal classes prior to the arrival of the baby, every three days the couples will advance to the next stage. Some couples may have an only child while some may have the responsibility of taking care of siblings. Married couples volunteer to participate in the experiment by letting the teenage couple "borrow" their child. They would deliver the child to their home, offer advice about how to respond in certain situations and gave a manual with instructions (i.e. child likes/dislikes, favorite food or toys, when to feed them, etc.) The parents are able to monitor their child and the couple on surveillance video and can step in if the need arises. A professional nanny also stayed with the couple and their child and monitored them.. The show features five couples who have to start off attempting to look after a baby for three days, before moving onto toddlers, pre-teens, teenagers and finally an elderly person.
