Every character that I do, I try to add one aspect of my life to it: Sucheta Khanna

MUMBAI: The lovely Sucheta Khanna has come on-board Rajan Shahi's new show "Woh Toh Hai Albelaa" as Indrani Sharma. The actress, who has been in the industry for over 20 years, says that she is very passionate about her job and loves every bit of it. She also confessed that every reel avatar that she has donned so far had a bit of her real self.

She said, "Every character that I do, I try to add one aspect of my life to it. Like if it's a comedy role that I am doing then I use a lot of humorous situations in my life, I remember people, I remember their nuances and I use them in my reel life. So a part of Sucheta is there in every character that I play."

"Every new character is an adventure for me, and that's because I really love what I do. Especially when the scenes are written and executed well, you go home and sleep really well, if it's a very paisa-vasool kind of performance that you do and it really feels good, which is very rare in television today, so I do take my work very seriously and I enjoy it," she added.

Speaking about her character in the Director's Kut Productions' new project, she said, "She was once a very authoritative lady who used to fight for women's education and rights. But after her husband's death, she had to take the responsibility of her three daughters and a mother-in-law and she has now lost her confidence in life. She has become very timid in her approach to everything."

What did you think of the title "Woh Toh Hai Albelaa"? "I got to know the title of the show on my first day of my shooting. I loved the title, it's very unique and very apt for the role that the lead boy Shaheer Sheikh is playing. The title goes very well with the storyline," Sucheta said.

The past two years saw the industry go through a tough phase because of the pandemic, and the actress is grateful to be working. Appreciating the makers, she said, "The thought of working with Rajan ji made me select this role. He's an excellent narrator and maker. So far every scene that I have done has been very well thought of, written and executed, a lot of fine-tuning has been done whilst working. So it's wonderful as an actor to be working under these conditions."

Sharing her thoughts on whether an actor should take a break or maintain visibility, she advises her fellow actors to never take a break from the job. She said, "I have done various roles, all centrally characterized. I have done everything, be it comedy, action or serious stuff. Every channel has a different audience, so every time I take up a new show I get a new set of audience and obviously those who have been following me, my fans and people who love my work, have always stayed loyal and I am forever grateful for that."

"Fortunately, for me, my roles have always been different so it's a new thing for even the audience to see. I really wanted to take a break from television earlier so that I could even get a break from this routine work but it did not go very well for me and I had to restart everything on my own. So this is always an insecurity every actor faces as it's like starting from scratch all over again. I don't advise taking breaks and if I am getting a variety of roles, which I have been getting, then it's a good thing to do and keep working," Sucheta ended.
