It was a superb move for Akriti Kakkar to step into dancing shoes after wowing the world with her melodious voice. The beautiful girl, who has songs like Abhi Abhi, Iski Uski, Saturday Saturday and many others under her belt, was chosen to be one of the wild card entries for Colors’ Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7 (BBC Worldwide Media). Sadly, things did not shape up as planned or wished by Akriti for she met with a nasty accident during the show’s technical rehearsals yesterday (7 July). Ouch!!! Cuts in a source: “She was looking forward to the show. She was suffering from a mild back pain but she kept on rehearsing ignoring it. Yesterday’s accident has left her all shattered.” Sad!!! But what really happened yesterday? Here’s Akriti sharing her pain with us: “It was my first costume rehearsal. I had to walk back on a sliding surface and then take a tumble on the sofas. I don’t know what happened; maybe I got tangled in the dress and I landed with a ‘thud’ on a hard surface. I was in lot of pain and was left squealing and howling.” Our sympathies to the lovely girl!!! The singer was then rushed to the nearby Om Sai Hospital where the doctors after an X-ray gave her pain killers. As per medical reports, she has hurt her tail bone badly and needs complete bed rest. “If it was a fracture I would have been left on bed for a year. Today I also went to Kokilaben Hospital for a second opinion and I was advised the same. I am in terrible pain and can’t even stand or sit straight. It’s really a painful time for me,” she shared. So it’s all over with Jhalak? “I am feeling terrible for I was 200 per cent prepared for my performance. For the first time I was doing something out of my comfort zone and I was so excited for the same. Also I am feeling bad for my choreographer Jawed who was returning to Jhalak after five years. He has been fasting and yet working so hard on me. Both of us won’t be able to perform for which we have been planning for so long.” On a short notice, we have learnt that it was impossible for the channel to bring in a replacement and now as it stands, the show will see 5 wild card entries, namely Kushal Punjabi, RJ Malishka, Rahul Vaidya, Kainaat Arora and Tara-Jean Popowich.
