MUMBAI: Anupamaa is the most adored show on television right now with TRPs nothing less than 4 on weekly basis. Its gripping storyline and mind-blasting twists keep the audience glued to their screens. Fans and viewers have connected to Anupamaa so deeply that they couldn't afford to miss even a single episode of the show.

Well, the show got two new storms in Anupamaa's life with Anuj and Rohan. We got in touch with Rohan aka Varun Sharma and asked him a few questions about his interests, what he would do if not acting and more :

If not an actor, what would you want to pursue?

Well, it's been a long time since I have been an actor. But talking about educational qualifications I have done my graduation in Mass Communication so I would love to create content on the web, I would love to write scripts and direction. I have an interest in creating content or advertising. I would love to be in front of the camera with other facets as well. In terms of creating content, I would surely want to vlog and get closer to the audience. 

Having another professional plan with acting has turned important. Over time Social media has taken over and you don't need to be an actor anymore. If you have fame through being an influencer you have more chances of being an actor. The more Instagram followers, the quicker you get a chance to feature in a show. Skill is lesser effective, it compromises a lot of other factors. Nowadays, you have to become a better social media manager than an actor with a recent lot of freshers in the industry. 

Have you experienced a change in the acting career with the new faces?

No, I would call it a good competition instead. There are new faces coming and going, there is no retention value left amid the actors. When we began the career, the senior actors were aren't getting repeated anymore. Now, shows are even working with 0.6 TRP at long stretches. Even I feel now that I should explore myself in OTT, one should have a cross-platform career. It is true that the shows on TV are suffering because of it. I still remember when Sasural Simar Ka went off-air our TRP was above 2. Now the structure of TRP has come down in terms of content. 

Tell us about your reason for agreeing to Anupamaa

Anupamaa has been doing very well, when I was approached for the show I didn't have any double thoughts in regards to how long would be my track be. I believe the show has insane potential in terms of its storyline. All the characters are important in the show and the focus keeps revolving around everyone's stories.
