MUMBAI: Dr Pulkit Deshpande aka Yash Pandit has been an eminent part of both the Film and Tv industries. He began his career at an early age with Haathon Ki Lakeerein as a Child Actor. There was no looking back for the actor after his debut in Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai?

We rang the actor asking about his journey as an actor and some interesting anecdotes from his life. Here's what the actor had to share:

As an actor how important is it to be socially available? Would take a break from social media?

I am not much of a social media guy, but the trend is such and people are so glued to their phones especially after Covid. The phone has become a necessity and one should go with the trend and upgrade themselves. Otherwise, I would love a holiday without the phone, I am someone who wouldn't want to click pictures like having food, I would rather relish it. I think for me social media is just a part of my life, not my whole life. 

What made you choose acting as a profession?

It comes from within, being from a musical background, I used to win a lot of prizes as a singer. I remember going to a party with my dad were Chetan Anand sir saw me and said, I want to cast him in a film and then I did a film Haathon Ki Lakeerein with Jackie Shroff and Sanjeev Kumar. Since then it felt amazing being in front of the camera. I had a choice, my parents have been supportive, they told me to do what my heart says. 

I am a movie buff, I love watching all kinds of content like films, series, foreign films, I am not fussy about the genre. It is always a learning experience. It keeps me going, it has become my routine, even if I am really tired I'd still watch something and then sleep. I think I was inclined towards acting since my childhood. The filmykeeda has been living in me since then.

The first earning that you made out of your profession?

I used to sing, I was doing some shows as a singer in my school and college days. I used to do these musical shows where I used to accompany my Sisters and Father and he would ask me to sing a song, that's how I used to get my pocket kharcha. I started pretty early, this was something that always pulled me towards itself. I was a part of Antakshari and such tv shows. I used to be in the loop of music or cinema. 

Sharing an anecdote from childhood he shared, "I was pretty young when Shah Rukh Khan was shooting right next to my house for Deewana. I was watching him perform the Koi Na Koi song. I went all wow seeing the shooting, he had that charisma, it was his first film. Since then I was attracted to the glam and the universe of acting.
