Balaji’s much-talked about project Fanaa inspired from popular book Twilight, is not getting appropriate lead faces. In all probability Gaurav Bajaj who was supposed to play the lead is out of the show now and it seems difficult now for the makers to launch it next month.

A source from the show says, “We are looking for a very young male lead. We shot mock episodes with Gaurav which did not go well with Ekta. So now we are looking for a young face once again. Our team did approach a few known names but no one has been finalised so far. We strictly want a fresh face to play the female lead and it is getting tougher to find one.”

Meanwhile the production house had first offered this role to Kunal Verma, then to Gaurav Bajaj, a known model. It is said he was supposed to be part of Tere Liye, but Harshad Chopra bagged that role. The latest now is that Fanna has now been offered to Anuj Sachdev, though he has not given his nod to it. He was asked to appear for a look test a couple of days back.”

Sandip Sikcand, creative director of the show, says, “It is not true and I will not be able to comment about it.”

Right now it is unlikely that the show will be launched on June 14 as it was intended. Initially it was to go on air on May 26 but it was delayed due to casting. Promos of the show too were supposed to go on air in the first week of June.
