Jayati Bhatia, the latest casualty of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is taking her exit in stride. “I am extremely happy to have been part of this popular Colors dance reality show which many others wanted to join.” But don’t you feel that that you were eliminated a bit early? “Well, my last two performances were not up to the mark. I got both less marks and votes. I always had a feeling that I will be in the danger zone, but did not think that I will go out as other dancers were worse than me and yet ended up getting better marks than me. I am not saying this as a case of sour grapes; I honestly don’t know why I was chosen to be eliminated.” Jayati also wondered how certain contestants who don’t have any connection with dance are yet surviving. “I sincerely feel that had I lasted a couple of more weeks (she was eliminated in round 5); I would have done better before bowing out gracefully.” This ex-kathak dancer has no problems with the format, wherein amongst the contestants there is one trained dancer (Isha Sharvani), “This has always been the case. In previous seasons we have had excellent dancers like Shweta Salve, Gauhar Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput. Yet the winners have been contestants who have had better journeys like Mona Singh (first season) and Meiyang Ch?ng (last season).” Jayati, who is currently doing Sasural Simar Ka also did not feel that the daily soap lead actors have a better chance with the voters for among the new wild card entries Rashmi Desai is not doing anything new after Uttaran. “Furthermore, I am not sure if Karan Wahi is part of Kuch Toh Log Kahenge. The only real daily lead star is Gurmeet Choudhary (Punar Vivah) as Pratyusha Banerjee (Balika Vadhu) is already out.” What about Giaa Maanek? “She has lost out on Gopi’s role in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya right!” Ask her about the choreographers and she says, “Only Deepak (first Pratyusha now Rashmi), Salman Yusuff Khan (Isha), Punit Pathak (Shibani Dandekar) and Shampa Sothalia (Gurmeet) are masters at their job. The other guys Nishanth Bhat (Giaa Manek), Kunjan(Ravi Kishan) and Diwakar Nayal (her choreographer) may be good dancers but are still learning the ropes to be good dance master.” In closing Jayati thanked Jhalak or making her reiconnect with dance after a long while. “I don’t want to lose this link again and hence will join dance classes thrice a week from 7th August.” Jayati, have a great life ahead!!!
