MUMBAI: The character of Anita Bhabhi was originally played by Saumya Tandon on Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai, who quit the show in August 2020.

Nehha Pendse was roped in to step into the shoes of Saumya Tandon to play Anita Bhabhi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai! In January 2021. Now, Nehha Pendse is likely to exit Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai! in a couple of months. The makers of the show are currently looking for a new actress to step into Nehha’s shoes, who plays Anita Bhabhi. Several actresses have auditioned for the part.
Meanwhile, Nehha, who was out of action after she tested positive for COVID-19 at the beginning of January, resumed the shoot a couple of weeks ago. Talking to us, she had said, “It started with a high fever and severe headache. The first RT-PCR was negative, but I tested again at home, which was positive. However, I couldn’t book another RT-PCR test as it was a Sunday. So, no test could happen. I again got tested yesterday and got my report today, which is positive. But technically, I have been suffering for the past four-five days. I am extremely weak and have not been able to get out of bed. I survived two waves, but the third one caught me unawares.”
A source informed a media portal, “Yes, we are in the process of bringing a new actress on board for the character of Anita Bhabhi and are auditioning actresses. We should be able to lock someone in a few weeks. Nehha’s one-year contract will end in April and she isn’t too keen on renewing it. One of the major factors of her exiting the show is the long commute. She spends hours travelling to the set and back home. It has taken a toll on her health. The makers and the actress thought that they would be able to manage it but it is now seeming difficult.”
