It is difficult to believe that Life OK’s Do Dil... Ek Jaan (Nautanki Films Pvt. Ltd) is Nikita Sharma’s first show. She has made a spontaneous debut in the serial.

This Delhiite has relocated to Mumbai to pursue her celluloid dreams. She says, “The shift to Mumbai has been awesome. Mumbaikars have been very accepting and the city is treating me very well indeed.”

In the serial, Antara, the character essayed by Nikita loses her dear father. We asked the actress if she too like the protagonist very close to her father. “I am very close to both my parents. They are like my best friends. My family is very supportive of my acting career.”

Nikita is currently living away from her parents. Does she miss them? She replies, “I do not miss them all the time as I have a very busy schedule. There are times when I miss them though.”

We asked her how she had got into the skin of the character of Antara. “I do not come from an acting background. I had my own business in Delhi. I was handling two eggless bakeries. After that I was assisting my dad in his business- he is a builder. So, I undertook acting classes. Being a Delhi girl, it was initially a challenge to slip into the role of a Kashmiri girl. It took a while to do that but I finally could do it as I had practiced very hard.”

Antara has wept quite a few times in the series, especially after she lost her father. We asked the actress if she cries on her own or uses glycerin. She informed us, “I have been crying on my own. I tried to imagine how Nikita would have felt in real life, the tears came naturally.”

Antara is falling in love with Raghu (Ayaz Ahmed) a rowdy guy from the streets. Junoon - Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq on the same channel is on a similar topic (of a nice girl falling in love with a rough and tough guy). Does she think that two alike shows on the same channel is kind of a repetition? She replied, “Honestly, as I am too busy to watch television, I have not watched the serial you are talking about. So, I am afraid that I cannot comment on this. Also, Raghu is a good guy with some grey shades.”
