Her show may not be attracting enough eyeballs but Nazneen Patel is more than excited to show off her accessory collection. The Mumbai girl has a fetish for ethnic jewellery which she uses for her show Main Aisi Kyun Hoon on Sahara One.

Says Nazneen, “I’m the only one in the television industry to wear such jewellery. Small screen actresses have to don a traditional look with gaudy sarees and heavy jewellery. However, rather than usual stuff, I prefer ethnic jewellery. I wear those silver bangles which fall all way down to my palm. There’s also the necklace and the anklet.”

Nazneen’s character, Sanjana in Main Aisi.. has undergone a sea change. Sanjana who started as a 21st century urban girl is now reduced to a typical Indian soap actress, one who wears sarees and loads of jewellery. So what led to this change of attitude? Nazneen replies, “Unfortunately, the viewers only like to see their actresses wearing traditional clothes. The urban rebellious girl is disliked by the target group. I, personally, too am saddened by the change in my character. Sanjana is a character that is synonymous with me but all that has now changed so as to accede to public demand.”

While the new Sanjana may not give much creative satisfaction to Nazneen, the actress is happy that playing a more traditional character allows her to wear her favourite ethnic jewellery “Though, I do not like my character anymore, I’m glad to bag the opportunity to show my ethnic jewellery. My producers have no objection to it,’’ quips the actress.

With not much incentive left for her, shouldn’t she consider quitting the show? Nazneen chides, “No, I will remain loyal to Pareshji (Rawal). I consider myself lucky to be chosen by Paresh Rawal for this role. I’m not concerned about the viewer’s response but I will remain in the show till it ends.”

It pays too be loyal Nazneen and you never know one day you may get to do a film with the veteran Paresh Rawal.
