No more side roles in Bollywood for me: Rannvijay Singh

A fan of love stories, Rannvijay Singh, is happy back on MTV Splitsvilla. With Sunny Leone as his co-host, the VJ-turned-actor is excited to see people finding love in the eighth season of the show, produced by Lost Boy Productions and Colosceum Productions.

“I really enjoyed Splitsvilla as it is a happy project where people fight for love. It is the strongest emotions in the world and can make people do a lot of things that they don’t really think they would ever do,” said the dashing guy.

The first season made Rannvijay’s style of suits with three quarter trousers a rage. When we asked what fashion statement he has planned to make this time, he said, “This time, it is more of a Bohemian look as it was really hot in Goa. It is more of loose, baggy clothes with a fun element. Also, we have given it a Goan twist with hats and other accessories.”

Since the guy would be replacing Nikhil Chinappa, we asked if there was any bad blood between the two? “Not at all! We are like brothers and have no such competition. We both are very close to the channel and shuffle shows in between. The channel decides who would fit which show and approach us accordingly,” he added.

We also asked Rannvijay if the failure of Pukaar on Life OK, hit him hard. “For me, it was not a failure. The way we worked with that show, it was like doing almost 12 films together. Since my dad is in the army, Pukaar is really special to me and I was well accepted by the masses. Also, I got to do some amazing action stunts that were never seen before on Indian TV.”

So any plans of making a comeback to fiction TV? “I am not comfortable with the run of the mill daily shows and would prefer doing something like Pukaar. Even in movies, now I want to do leads and not stick to parallel roles. It is high time I got some hard hitting stories.”

Talking about reality shows, Rannvijay shared, “As soon as I got married I was called in for couple of reality dance shows. I haven’t figured out but I really enjoy dancing. Though not many believe that I can dance!”

And finally, since it is the season of biopics, we quizzed him about the person he would love to play on the big screen. “Yuvraj Singh, any day! I know him inside out, having been friends with him for a long time. But he wants some tagda actor to play himself onscreen (winks), so I don’t think I have a chance,” he said.

But we would love you as Yuvraj. Won’t we, guys?
