MUMBAI: Known for his effortless charm and on-screen charisma, Mishkat Varma takes his craft to a new depth with COLORS' latest show, 'Ram Bhavan'. His character of the street-smart and jugaadu Om Vajpayee is winning hearts, but what the audience sees on screen is the result of an intense, immersive experience that pushes him to his limits. To bring Om to life, Mishkat spent a month filming in the heart of Prayagraj, soaking in its energy and people’s characteristic mannerisms. He walked the crowded lanes, observed the casual banter, and even adopted the gist of the local dialect he heard to add an authentic edge to his performance. But the journey was far from easy. Filming in Prayagraj was an endurance test of its own. The scorching heat was relentless, with temperatures soaring beyond comfort amid long shooting hours. Beyond the grind, there were moments of respite as the Ram Bhavan actor explored the city as a traveller.
Reflecting on the journey, Mishkat shares, “Om, the character I portray, is nothing like me, and that’s what made this role so exhilarating. I’m grateful for the opportunity to shoot in Prayagraj, a city I’ll always remember for its hospitality and uplifting energy. While I was there, I observed the people around me. They may seem simple, but they have a unique ‘swag’ of their own, which I infused into my portrayal of Om. Beyond the shooting schedule, I found peace in exploring the city’s cultural and historical landmarks, like Triveni Sangam and Allahabad Fort. Traveling through Prayagraj with my character's perspective was a completely different experience. The local delicacies—chaat, thandai, and kulfi—became my guilty pleasures. If I ever return, it will feel like revisiting Om.”
In the current storyline, Om, starts the aarti without Gayatri, triggering her fury. In retaliation, she slashes everyone's expenses and challenges Om to survive on his own earnings. Amid this turmoil, Om crosses paths with Isha for the first time, setting the stage for an intriguing turn of events.
Stay tuned to Ram Bhavan every night at 8:30 pm, only on COLORS.
