Television’s favourite Jamai Raja,  the perfectionist Ravi Dubey is leaving no stone unturned to enthrall the audience with his new avatar as Satya.

Recently, the  show took a 20-year leap and Ravi who had won audiences over as the ideal son-in-law Sid Khurana is currently seen enacting the role of his own son, Satya. While Sid was a selfless, man of principles whose life centered around his loved ones and not money, his son Satya believes in smart work rather than hard work and that money makes his world go round!  Satya’s rough around the edges as he has been brought up in a chawl and behaves like a local goon. It was quite a challenge for the actor to play two such diverse roles but he was quick to portray both characters as very distinctly different.

To get the demeanor right, Ravi recently befriended a fisherwoman to understand the culture and pick up cues of their colloquial nuances. The actor travelled  a few times by the local train in Mumbai to observe the behavior traits displayed by the common man in order to emulate their style while portraying Satya.

Talking about the challenge of playing an absolutely new character on the show that gave him the biggest break on television as Sid, Ravi shared, ‘I consider myself really blessed to have got the opportunity to enact as many as 17 different looks on Jamai Raja in the past two years. When the role of the Sid and Roshni’s 20-year-old son, Satya who will be brought up in a basti was narrated to me, I knew that the body language and the dialect needs work to make the character relatable besides the look or the attire. I started travelling to my set in Naigaon by the local train and I meet a lot of people. I made friends with a fisherwoman and got to know her well. I  know her lifestyle, her children, her beliefs and she still doesn’t know who I am. Once, I also met a manufacturer of utensils, who has his unit around our set and we are good friends now. I asked him about his routine, his hardships and how he manages his expenses within his limited means. My interactions made me connect better with them, observe their style, expressions, diction, choice of words, etc. To top it all, I made friends with some amazing human beings and even got a glimpse of their life. The audience had showered immense love on me as Sid, and I am working hard so that they like me as Satya as well.’’

Woaaah! That's nice, isn't it???
