Sa Re Ga Pa's Muslim trio host an Iftar for Hindu colleagues

When on stage, they compete like fierce tigers but off it they are the best of friends. This camaraderie between our Sa Re GA Ma Pa contestants was reflected on Wednesday when the Muslim trio of Raja Hasan, Amanat Ali, and Junaid Sheikh hosted an iftar (party) for their Hindu colleagues (Sumedha, Mauli and Aneek) in the holy month of Ramzan.

The occasion held more significance for the two Pakistanis, Amanat and Junaid, as for the first time, they are celebrating this festival with Indians. Says Amanat, "Obviously, it's a bit different here unlike in Pakistan, which is primarily a Muslim country. The atmosphere back home is so lively. For instance, when we conduct the sehri (early morning rituals), you wouldn't feel that's its dawn as the atmosphere is all lit up. But I'm glad we were able to create something similar here tonight." This month holds special significance for Amanat as he's in line for few celebrations. The Pakistani enunciates, "The upcoming days are really dear to me. My birthday is on the 10th of October. This will be followed by Sa Re. grand final on the 13th and on the following day, it's Eid. So, if I win the contest, it truly is going to be one huge celebration for me' Junaid had this to say, "Forget being in India, it's for the first time that I'm celebrating Ramzan without my family. Being mom and dad's favorite, I'm sure they'll be missing me. The atmosphere here is different but this can be attributed to the fact Mumbai is a multi racial city. Local lad Raja Hassan (the Bikaneri shifted to Mumbai eight years ago) said "These are good times for me. The grand final is being held on the eve of Eid. So, I'm just hoping that I can have more than one reason to celebrate" The party is now over and one can expect the three finalists (Raja, Amanat and Aneek) to give no quarter on the D-day. But one thing is certain, on the 13th of October; there'll be just one Muslim or none at all who'll indulge into dual celebrations.
