Bubbly and full of life Sonal Vengurlekar, who impressed viewers with her interesting characters various in youth shows namely The Buddy Project and Dil Dostii Dance, is all set to act in her first family drama, Shastri Sisters (Shakuntalam Telefilms) on Colors. The show will present the tale of four sisters who move to Delhi from Kanpur with their father and adjust to the fast paced life of the metro city. Tellychakkar.com recently caught up with Sonal at the press conference of the show. The chirpy young girl looked pretty confident and excited and shared much detail about her character. “I am playing the role of the third sister, Devyani who is very bubby and a complete rebel. She will be funny and always fight with her elder sister Neha on petty matters. That’s how the two sisters will be (smiles), full of love yet at loggerheads. In real life also I am like Devyani, so it gets easy for me to portray this character.” On bagging the show she informed, “I gave the audition and look test but was not really sure if I’ll get through. Now being a part of such a great show I truly feel blessed. Every day I am learning something new. In fact in my introduction scene I had to ride a scooty which I didn’t know. My production people sent me to a motor driving school and only after I cleared the test, that I completed the shoot.” On asked who her role model is, she quickly answered with a big smile, “It’s Kareena Kapoor and I feel my character is also a bit like her role in the movie Jab We Met.” In today’s time when there are many so many popular ongoing shows, why would the audience watch her serial? “As per my knowledge this is the first youth centric show on Colors with new comers. Also it has a very unique chemistry among the sisters which viewers will definitely enjoy. It is not a boring show and people from all generation will enjoy watching it for sure.” Shastri Sisters will premiere on 21 July at 7pm.
