A show like 24 needs an honest audience: Priyansh Jora

Priyansh Jora
The highly acclaimed show 24 (Anil Kapoor Productions) has proved to be a game changer for the Indian television in terms of concept and novelty factor. Starting the trend of a series adapted from an international format, the show has also seen a huge list of young raw talent finding a platform to shine. One such young blood is Priyansh Jora who played the character of Rohit in the show. His acting talent, a good role along with his cute demeanour brought him recognition. In a chat with Tellychakkar.com, Priyansh talks about his experience in the show. “For me, 24 is a life changing experience but I am yet to get a hang of it. To be a part of such a big team with most of them coming from film background, was indeed a learning experience, an experience I will cherish all my life.” Trying to elaborate, this curly haired lad shares, “My character is of a young guy who is good at heart but wants to stand on his own. Understandably he gets lured by easy money. Similarly I too feel that unless you are hurting someone, there is no right or wrong. So initially I thought it would be easy playing the confused Rohit, but then when we got going I realised how difficult it was to play this multi-shaded character.” “Abhinav Deo truly helped us get the character right and told me that I will have to get away from the sweet boy image and get a harsh attitude in me. This is when I used to give an extra effort to perform and bring out that badmaash streak in me,” Priyansh adds. Talking about Anil Kapoor, the young guy from Delhi who has done commercials before, states, “He has a different energy altogether, what a superb actor he is. I thought it will be difficult for me to perform in front of him, but on the other hand he made it quite easy for me. Your performance automatically improves when you perform with a talented actor as acting is all about give and take. And Anil Sir can make any actor perform to his/her best with his involvement and right feedbacks.” Priyansh who feels that he is not someone who can manage the life of a daily soap actor says that he took up 24 as it was not the usual grind of a serial. “I am ready to take anything good that comes my way, but personally I don’t think I am someone who can handle dailies. I am young and would like to grow as a person and not just spend all my life on a set doing the same thing.” When we asked him why the Anil Kapoor show could not garner good numbers, the young lad explains, “See 24 is not the kind of show that you can work in your kitchen and just hear the happenings; it needs an honest viewership. And anyways, the show has gone down quite well with the people. All of us including Anil Sir have received great reviews; so there’s no reason to complain about the numbers. And anyways, we should not judge a show on an overall parameter, every show/film has its own audience.” Priyansh shares his experience when a six year old boy on the train came up to him and discussed 24, he really felt proud of the fact that even kids are so involved with the show. “I shot for a MTV campaign to urge youths to vote recently and will wait for good offers to come my way,” the young actor concludes.
