MUMBAI: Casting director Sohan Thakur has had quite a fulfilling year. He says that he was relatively busier half the year and made sure to cast a lot of great actors in meaningful projects. “2020 was very hard for everyone, but by the grace of God, I was busy half the year. I worked for three TV soaps and two web series. Out of these, the TV soaps are already on air, these are Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti and Yeshu,” says Sohan.

In fact, the casting director helped many people get their dream projects this year. “I am happy that we have been able to cast many incredible artists. Some of these include Siddhant Suryawanshi, Neha Marda, Yash Sinha, Sapna Thakur, Geeta Sharma, Pratyaksh Panwar and Sonali Nikam. The others we cast included Arya Dharamchand, Ankit Arora, Darpan Srivastava, Vivaan Shah, Khabir, Giriraj Kabra, Ashmit Patel, Amit Gaur, Aarushi Handa, Vaishali Takkar and Anushka Srivastava. These actors were cast for TV shows and web series,” he says.

Working in a pandemic is not easy, says Sohan, adding that lots  of things have changed. “The discipline and norms have changed completely. Now, everyone is extremely careful and are following all guidelines on hygiene and prevention of Covid-19. It is really incredible how everyone is being so careful,” he adds.

Ask him what are his expectations from next year and Soham says, “From 2021, my expectations are high and more focused towards my work. I want to work on meaningful web shows and films along with TV soaps. My new year's resolution is to be the best casting director in the film industry.”

He also has high hopes from some actors, who he feels will do very well next year. “I feel some actors such as Navin Kasturia, Ashish Gokhle, Vivaan Shah, Arushi Handa, Ashmit Patel, Kanika Tiwari and Sonalika Prasad will really rise in their careers next year,” he says.
