There will be comparisons but I would rather concentrate on the positives: Dilkhush Reporter on replacing Jennifer Mistry in Taarek Mehta

Dilkhush Reporter
Dilkhush Reporter, who recently entered SAB TV’s hit show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (Neela Telefilms) replacing the now pregnant Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal as Roshan Sodhi, is very excited about her new assignment. “It is a very big thing for any actor to be introduced in a popular show like Taarak which is loved by many TV viewers. Prior to this, I had done a daily drama (Kasamh Se) and a crime show (Khotey Sikkey) among others. I have never tried my hands at comedy, so let’s see how good I am in this genre,” Dilkhush avers. She also has no issues on entering somebody else’s shoes. “Television today, is more about characters. It doesn’t matter if someone else has played the role before. What really matters is whether you take the characters’ graph a notch higher or keep it at the existing level, ”she maintains. Talking about her character, the model turned actress says, “Roshan is a very sweet housewife. That she is a Parsi already brings in a lot of madness to the table and when you add a Punjabi husband (Roshan Singh), the fun and cutie quotient goes that much higher. I would like to play around with the small moments between a couple which sometime can go awkward on not hitting the right comic timing. I hope my personality will affect the character in a good way.” Dilkhush, also did not encounter the so-called outsider feeling entering that set that abounds with the same cast for so many years. “Right from my first day, everybody including senior actors such as Dilip Joshi sir (Jethalal ), Disha Vakani (Daya) and Neha K Mehta (Anjali) were warm and friendly,” she goes on to add. The actress is quite aware that since Jennifer had done such a good job playing Roshan over the past so many years, hence it will take some time for the viewers to accept her and she is ready to give them that much time. “At the end of the day, we, in the entertainment business, need to keep our audiences happy. Of course, there will also be comparisons but I being a positive person, will rather concentrate on looking at the positives and giving my 100 per cent.” Finally, the 28 year-old Dilkhush does not have a problem playing a mother to a 10-12 year-old child Gogi (Samay Shah).“It is not important where you come from but it’s vital as to how you use your talent to portray your character aptly.”
