MUMBAI: Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is one of the top-rated shows of the small screen. The daily has been running on the TV screens for almost 11 years and is very much popular among the fans. Each character of the show has become a household name now.

With time, many actors bid adieu to the show for various reasons and were then replaced by new actors. One of them is Sonu Bhide whose character was replaced by Palak Sidhwani. Nidhi Bhanushali previously played the role of Sonu.

In a candid chat with TellyChakkar.com Palak Sidhwani spoke at length on replacing Nidhi Bhanushali as Sonu. When asked if she feel that replacing a character is a disadvantage, she said, “I wouldn’t say it is a complete disadvantage but yes to some extent it is. Audience’s expectation increases as the previous actor sets a bar and there’s a constant pressure of performing well and living up to the expectation. As far as Sonu’s character is concerned, Nidhi Bhanushali played the character for around seven months and has become the face of Sonu and suddenly a new person in the same shoes would of course not get instant acceptance from the audience. There is also always a comparison drawn between both the actors. Some may like Nidhi better and a few would like my work and of course the audience has the right to feedback as they are investing so much of their time and emotions on the show and have the right to keep expectations from their favourite characters. I’m trying my level best each day to meet to their expectations and I feel to some extent, I have been successful in doing the same”.
