MUMBAI: Shivangi Joshi became a household name for her show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The actress is seen playing the role of Naira Singhania opposite Mohsin Khan. 

Shivangi has been associated with the show for a very long time and we have seen her character progressing with every passing day. 

Before the actress landed this big role in her career, Shivangi did a number of shows like Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi, Beintehaa, Love By Chance and Begusarai among others.

The actress won several praises for her role in Begusarai. She was seen opposite Vishal Aditya Singh. Shivangi played the role of Poonam in the show. 

However, not many are aware that Shiangi's on-screen character was inspired by a popular Bollywood diva Manisha Koirala from the film Lajja. Yes, you heard it right!

Shivangi had quoted, "After Poonam marries the guy she is not too fond of, her characteristics undergo a drastic change. From this simple, timid girl, she becomes someone who fights for her rights. She wants to take charge of her life, and gives it back to those who have done her wrong. This phase of her character is inspired by the role that Manisha played in Lajja. I’ve seen the movie, and I really liked her guts. I’ve been trying to imbibe her attitude in the show.”
