MUMBAI: The IPL season started off with a bang. Every team has been performing well with a few exceptions. Even the teams which are underperforming are getting great support from fans as the players are still promising.
While things are going great for the fans, there's good news for Rajasthan Royals fans. Sanju Samson is set to return as Rajasthan Royals’ captain in the Indian Premier League after receiving clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to resume wicketkeeping duties.

The skilled wicketkeeper-batter had undergone surgery on his right index finger after being struck by former Rajasthan Royals teammate Jofra Archer during India’s T20I series against England in February. As a result, Samson featured in the first three matches of the season solely as a batter, with Riyan Parag taking over the captaincy in his absence.
Samson made appearances in the season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad but was substituted out in the matches against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. He registered scores of 66, 13, and 20 runs in these games.
In an official statement, Rajasthan Royals confirmed:
“Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson has received clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to resume wicketkeeping duties following a period of recovery. The clearance follows a thorough fitness assessment by the NCA medical team. With this positive development, Samson will return to his full leadership role and captain the team in the upcoming match against Punjab Kings.”
This announcement brings a significant boost to Rajasthan Royals, as Samson’s leadership and wicketkeeping skills are expected to strengthen the team’s performance as they continue their IPL 2025 campaign.
