MUMBAI: Deepika Padukone was present to promote her upcoming film Gehraiyaan. The actress speaks about how she felt being the most experienced actor on the sets of the film. She also speaks about the process she goes through before picking up any roles and Ranveer Singh’s reaction to her chemistry with Siddhant Chaturvedi.

It is not like I went on the sets thinking every day I am the most experienced person on the sets. I walk onto the set making sure that it will be a fun and memorable experience for everybody.  So yes, I am aware of the actors whom I am working with are relatively new maybe just 2 or 3 films old. While I am around 15 years of experience. Yes of course I was aware of that. But at the same time, I would do everything possible to succeed in making them feel extremely comfortable as possible.

What is the process you go through before picking up the role?

Putting it simply I have learned everything that I am today. From all the years of experience that I have had. I have learned from the film's set and I have learned from the people I have met. So over the period of time, I have gained clarity in terms of who I am as a person and what is that I want to do in my career and the kind of choices I want to make, and what are the characters I want to play that will eventually be memorable that will hopefully inspire the future generations. I think I have grown personally and professionally over the last 15 years to come to a point where I have absolute clarity in terms of the way I want to lead the next several years of my life. 

What was Ranveer Singh’s reaction to the chemistry between you with Siddhant?

Ranveer Singh is most excited about the film. In fact, he was the first champion who wanted me and Shakun to work together. Finally, that happened he was the main reason that I wanted to work with Shakun for a long time. I love his mind and I love his idea of storytelling. Ranveer is as excited as the audience to watch this film.
