MUMBAI: Traffic Signal and Garam Masala fame actress Nitu Chandra will be soon making her Hollywood debut with the film Never Back Down: Revolt. The actress has already made her mark in Bollywood as well as in Tollywood films in the past. 

Team TellyChakkar got an exclusive chance to talk to the actress where she spoke about what made her say yes to the film, why she has not been seen in Bollywood films recently, and if she sees any similarities or differences in the working cultures of both the industries.

What made you say yes to the project?

I have been a trained martial artist from my childhood. And a film like this coming your way from Hollywood, where I am getting to play one of the main leads,m and from such a big production house, who would say no to it. I just jumped at it. I was waiting for you. Anybody will say yes to such a big project where you get to do your own action and acting as well. For me, it is very important to do good work and good characters in good films.

Your last outing in Bollywood was in 2011, what made you stay away from Bollywood for so long?

After 2011, I did a few movies in down South, where I worked with superstars like Surya, R Madhavan, and Jayam Ravi. I kept reading scripts but they all were double-meaning comedy films which I think, I wouldn't justify. I just couldn’t convince myself of doing those films. So when I am not convinced about the script then how could I act in it. 

Do you see any differences or similarities in the working culture between Bollywood and the Hollywood industries?

I can’t say much about the difference because everywhere people are punctual and late. Everywhere there are people who are professional and unprofessional. In the west, there are agents and managers who handle the work of celebrities. So in that term, they are more managed by the agents.  But there is a lot of similarities like, everybody wants to do good films and good projects. Everyone is trying to do their best. So according to me, the similarities are we all are trying to do our best and with the same intention, I try to do my best in terms of film.
