Yash Johar once humorously commented on the expenses of Amitabh Bachchan starrer Agneepath; Says ‘Meri pitayi kar rahe hain’

Yash Johar had been in the film industry for a few decades, and his production firm had been in action for almost a decade as well, but they had not yet had a major hit. Yash Johar, however, had a cheerful disposition and a sense of humour that could always make people laugh in spite of everything.

MUMBAI: Both Amitabh Bachchan and Yash Johar's Dharma Productions were eager for a hit when they worked together to make the 1990 movie Agneepath, which starred Bachchan. By then, Yash Johar had been in the film industry for a few decades, and his production firm had been in action for almost a decade as well, but they had not yet had a major hit. Yash Johar, however, had a cheerful disposition and a sense of humor that could always make people laugh in spite of everything.

Actress Rohini Hattangadi recently talked about her time working on Agneepath and producer Yash Johar made a self-satisfying comment in an interview. When one of the crew members was trying to age a prop on the set, Rohini said, they were beating it with a stick, and as a result, the prop began to seem a little worn out and older, as the scene required.

A young actor questioned Yash why he was doing this during the process, and Yash responded in his own unique way, “Bete, yeh meri pitayi kar rahe hain (It feels like they are hitting me).” Yash made a joke about how the team had aged the item after painting it, which increased his expenses as a producer.

Despite not doing well at the box office, Agneepath, which also starred Danny Denzongpa and Mithun Chakraborty, won Big B a National Film Award. A few years later, Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt returned for Karan Johar's remake of the movie, which was a box office hit.

Karan Johar frequently discusses the kind of humor his late father had. He talked about his father's response on a recent Koffee with Karan episode when he insisted on paying Rs 5 lakh for a painting, “My father was a very simple man and I asked him for Rs 5 lakh to buy an artwork from Raza. And he was like ‘Rs 5 lakh? There’s art for Rs 5 lakh?’”

Along with describing the artwork, Karan disclosed his father's reaction to it, “My father has said, and I don’t want to say exactly what he said and he said it in Punjabi. But he said, ‘Yeh toh setting vale bhi kar skate hain, iske maine Rs 5 lakh kyu diye (Even set designers could’ve made this, why have I paid Rs 5 lakh for this)?”
