The real life couple, Ronita Das and Souptick, has been roped in for Colors Bangla’s next mega serial ‘Sohagi Sindoor’, which is a revenge love story.    

Yes readers, you heard it right.

Ronita, who gained immense fame for essaying the role of Baha in Star Jalsha’s Ishti Kutum, is glad to be back in a fiction show after a long hiatus. She quipped, “It’s great to be back to doing what I love. While I have been anchoring and hosting on TV, nothing feels like playing a good meaty character like Sohag.”

Giving a brief account of her character, Ronita shared, “I am playing the role of a girl who is sober and obedient but rebellious by nature. Whenever she finds anything wrong she tries her level best to fight for justice. She is concerned about everyone.”

Talking about his character, Souptick said, “I am playing an interesting character which is very different from anything I have played before. It’s gritty with shades of grey, as Deepto is not the quintessential hero.”

Now coming to the plot, the story follows Sohag, a spirited young girl, who belongs to a suave, polished and educated family. She wishes to be a lawyer, but due to the lack of finances, she is unable to pursue her dream. However, this doesn’t stop her from studying law on her own.

On the other side of the spectrum is the Dutta clan, who are famous for their unlawful and immoral legacy. The clan is helmed by matriarch Ambika (Mallika Ghosh), who has got some supernatural powers, with her son Deepto (Souptick) by her side. The family has suddenly become wealthy and it shows off in the way they carry themselves. The women in the family love to wear bright dresses with loud make up and show off their wealth by wearing expensive ornaments all the time.

While the girl's family is 'Vaishnav', the boy's family is Shakto (worships Goddess Kali).

In a twist of fate, Sohag and Deepto end up marrying each other.

Now, whether Sohag will be able to break through the barriers of right and wrong to make a place in Deepto’s heart is for the viewers to see.

The other cast of the serial include Pradip Chakraborty, Kaushik Banerjee, Debraj Mukherjee, Reshmi Sen, Abanti Dutta, Animesh Bhaduri, Nandita Payra, Honey, Arindya Banerjee, Madumita Ray, Nibedita Biswas, Biplab Banerjee, Aniket and Abhishek.

Throwing light on the positivity of the show, Sujay Kutty, Channel Head, Colors Bangla and Odia said “Sohag, our protagonist, is a girl next door and a very relatable character and we hope the passivity of the character reaches out to our audience and wins their heart.”

Produced by Chayabani Balaji Entertainment (their first venture in Bengal) and directed by Victo, it will start airing from 18^th January every Monday to Saturday at 10 pm.
