MUMBAI: 1. Haale dil is doing well though a few do talk about the extra marital love angle whats your take on it ?
The show is doing extremely well and the kind of response it is garnering, the number of people watching it live, the millions of views on each episode, it’s overwhelming. The love is only growing with each episode, and the character I play, Kushal, is appealing to the audience in a very endearing way.
Some people are raising questions about the story revolving around EMA etc, but its just a story, attempting to reflect a certain reality of the society we live in. I don’t believe it promotes or eulogises bad behaviour in any sense.
2. how have you gained from this show and in what way?
It is yet to be seen, honestly speaking, whether I have gained from the show professionally or not. But I have received a lot of love from the audience and that is just invaluable. A lot of people have noticed my performance and have been talking about it in comments etc. It’s quite a feeling to know that your work is reaching and hitting the right spot with the audience.
The hope is that other filmmakers also take notice, and I get to play more such well-rounded parts in future projects.
3. sitaare zameen par had you for a bit but a lasting impact did you expect this ?
I knew that the scene I’m in will be retained on the edit, because it is kind of important - it’s actually the culmination of all that Coach Gulshan (Aamir Khan) feels through the film. That’s also why that scene is so impactful, because it shows us the journey this character has made. Its his scene really, I’m just there as a listener - and I think I did that part well. Of course, me being in the same frame as Aamir Khan is special, and that’s why a lot of people took notice - even though it’s just a come and go part.
4. what next ?
I’m waiting on a few releases. A couple of feature films and some short films. I’m looking forward to getting called to audition for parts which can challenge the actor in me.
