MUMBAI: The Hindi Film industry is a glamorous place but also a tough place to survive. There are many who are one hit wonders but there are also those who have multiple releases and yet fail to make a mark. Aayush Sharma is one of those actors who was fabulous in his debut film and wasn't seen in many films thereafter. He opens up why.

Aayush who is gearing up for his next release Ruslaan in cinema halls revealed that he was a background dancer in the song Diliwali Girlfriend song from the film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Aayush revealed, “The first time I came to Mehboob Studios was for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Someone told me 'Why are you working as a background dancer.' I said that I wanted to see what a film set looks like and to see how the shoots happen. I couldn't find a job as Assistant Director.”

Aayush further said, “At one point, I wanted to become a casting director, thinking that I could get on the set through this. I remember that I had a shoot for YJHD at Mehboob Studios. It was a beautiful moment as there were 300-400 background dancers and I was one of them. Then I saw Manish Malhotra, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin and then I saw Ranbir Kapoor entering the set for the ‘Dilliwali Girlfriend’ song shoot.”

On casting directors rejecting him earlier, Aayush revealed, “”"I hold my memories close to me. It's funny sometimes to think that some casting directors have rejected me before and now when I meet them, they tell me that I liked your films. They don't even remember that they rejected me before.”
