Currently, she has, movies like 'Thank God, 'Runaway 36' and 'Attack'. She is also very popular in the South, she is amongst the favorite choices to be the leading star in many movies.

She began her modeling career at the age of 18 while still in college. In 2009, she made her Kannada film debut in Gilli, a remake of Selvaraghavan's 7G Rainbow Colony. She explained that she signed up for the film "to make some extra pocket money" and that she had no idea "how big south Indian films were." In 2014, she made her Bollywood debut in Divya Kumar's directorial debut Yaariyan, followed by the release of her third Tamil film, Yennamo Yedho.

In an interview with entertainment portal Pinkvilla  Rakhul opened about the initial uncertainty about choosing acting as a career and coming from a totally opposite world, of army and sports, to which she said, '  Of course, I did and, you know, that's what you hear when you're not from the industry or when you don't have
anybody who's been a part of the industry whether it's modeling or acting. You know, it's a very uncertain career, you know, you may make it but many don't make it. It's a difficult life that
you choose to be a part of so of course, you have all those things but then my parents, I guess, were always very supportive, you know. In fact, it was my mother who sort of put it in my head that you should give it a try because, you know, you're tall and, you know, independent and all of that and just give it a shot.

Modeling initially started as a hobby, you know, it was great pocket money on the side while I was in my college. Then slowly, you know, I got interested, the kind of work was good. When I got my first film and then I thought when I made the move to Bombay that I'm going to give myself two years because of the uncertainty and if I crack it in two years, great, I don't then I am gonna get back to my studies because I always knew that, you know, I even when I was
a kid and this is really funny like fourth-fifth grade, a would ask, "What do you want to be", I used to say, "I don't know what I am gonna be but I am not gonna
struggle."

Rakul will next be seen in ‘Runway 36’ with Ajay Devgn and Amitabh Bachchan and in ‘Attack ‘with John Abraham.
