Legendary Pakistani singer Attaullah Khan's voice now in India

Legendary Pakistani singer Attaullah Khan
Remember the song 'Accha Sila Diya Tune' from Bewafa Sanam. The song rendered by Sonu Nigam became a runaway hit and so was the movie. But there was a small glitch. The singer who rendered the original version went by the name of a Pakistani legend called Attaullah Khan and he remained apparently uncredited. Now almost two decades after the release of Bewafa Sanam, popular Marathi director Deepak Gode has brought out an album named Accha Sila Diya Tune, to honour the great Pakistani singer. And he has also achieved the unbelievable feat of getting the legend to render his voice for the famous song. An extremely happy Deepak says, "It is our intention to get this legendary singer, his voice and his songs to India. There are a lot of fans here who love and appreciate his music." Talking about how the entire idea of cutting out an album in Attaullah Khan's voice germinated, Deepak explains, "I had a chance meeting with him in London way back in 2009. I expressed my desire to him then but nothing materialised. Then after coming back to India, I made many ISD phone calls to Khan saab just to convince him to lend his voice for my album. Finally he invited me to discuss things in Lahore.” Now to get a visa to reach Pakistan was another hurdle to cross. Thankfully director Mahesh Bhatt came to Deepak's rescue. “I called Mahesh Bhatt and he helped me out with the visa formalities and guided me how to go about it. This came in handy and I finally went to Lahore last year,” reveals Deepak. What Deepak couldn't do over phone, he finally managed to achieve when he met Attaullah Khan in person in Pakistan. “Khan saab's hospitality was absolutely great and I through my persistent efforts finally managed to get him to say 'yes' for my album,” shares Deepak. Having received the go ahead from legend himself, Deepak got down to the task of shooting the album. Newcomers Amandeep and Kashish Vohra were roped in to enact the romantic love story that the album Accha Sila Diya Tune professes to portray. The album has a total of six tracks and will be released all over India by the end of this month. Deepak also has plans of flying down Attaullah Khan to Mumbai for the grand launch. "We will hold a great function where Khan saab will release the album along with other titans of the music industry," says Deepak before signing off.
