Seasoned actor Manav Gohil who enthralled one and all in popular shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kasautii Zindagi Kay and Fame Gurukul is back on television with Channel V and Sunshine Productions’ The Buddy Project. Here is Manav talking about his comeback vehicle, and on the other projects in hand. Talking about his role in The Buddy Project, Manav says, “I play a successful investment banker with a past which is linked to the school in which he studied, and this makes him get back to the school as a teacher. The story will revolve around his interactions with the kids and the manner in which this changes their lives for the good. Also in the process, his life too gets transformed”. On his involvement with the kids in the show, the experienced actor states, “They are a bundle of energy. You get to learn a lot from them. We had quite a lot of workshops which helped us get into the skin of our characters”. Ask Manav whether he could not have got back on a more popular channel rather than Channel V and he says, “If I had the feeling of working with only certain channels for only a certain rate, then I would not have been doing TV. Having said this, I love Channel V, the outfit is fresh and the scripts are different, something that I have never done before”. Besides this show, Manav is also working on a Gujarati film, Saptapadi, where he essays a character 10/15 years elder than his real age. “It was quite tough enacting the role as I had to change my entire body language because the guy can’t move that easily. I modelled my character’s look and gait on a few relatives from that age group”. Talking about his co-actor Swaroop Sampat in the film, Manav says, “She is a very fine actress, completely down-to-earth”. Manav again wants to try his hand at Bollywood. His first attempt Bhanvraa had not even seen the light of the day. However the actor now looks forward to a fresh start in the B-town. “Things have changed for the better, newer scripts and directors have come around. The success of Ayushman Khurana (Vicky Donor) is a pointer to that change. Gone are the days when you would say TV actors can’t make it big in films”, explains Manav. Manav who recently became a father says, “The new princess had brought a change in my overall personality, and work is just a facet in the new Manav”.
