MUMBAI :Nani has been working in the Telugu film industry for more than a decade. He has been a part of many memorable movies like Eega, Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, Middle Class Abbayi, Jersey, V, Shyam Singha Roy, and others. He is called the Natural Star of the Telugu film industry, and now, for the first time, the audience will get to see him in a raw and rustic role in the movie Dasara which has hit the big screens today.

Dasara is a Telugu film, but it has been dubbed and released in various languages including Hindi. We saw the movie in Hindi, and read on to know more about how the film is.

The movie revolves around a village called Verpalli where all the men and even a few women are addicted to alcohol. Even alcohol is used to win elections. In this village, we have Dharni (Nani) and Suri (Dheekshith Shetty) two best friends and due to a situation they get involved in politics. However, one incident changes everything, and then starts a revenge drama with a perfect dose of romance in it.

Dasara is written and directed by Srikanth Odela who has earlier worked as an assistant on movies like Rangasthalam and Nannaku Prematho. The story Dasara is not a great one and it’s not something that we haven’t seen before, but the movie stands out the way it has been narrated.

The direction of Srikanth Odela is good, and Sathyan Sooryan’s cinematography is simply excellent. There are scenes that will give you an adrenaline rush and even scenes that will shock you. It has all the massy elements that will attract the single screen audiences; there’s heroism, drama, action, romance, and a couple of good songs.

But, what might become a hurdle for the film is that it’s a bit slow especially in the first half, and like most South movies it takes time to get to the point. So, stay a bit patient as the movie picks up fantastically in the pre-interval portions.

Also, one big problem with Dasara seems like the makers have done the literal translations of Telugu to Hindi, and sometimes, especially during the songs, the feel goes lost in translation. Actually, whenever a filmmaker plans to dub and release the movie in Hindi, they should take some lessons from SS Rajamouli as his dubbed movies never look dub because the dialogues are written in a way that they sync with what’s being mouthed by the actors.

Performance wise, Nani is simply excellent in the film, and he has given one of the best performances of his career. It’s a role that not many would have imagined Nani in, but he has performed very well. Such genre of massy films in South hardly have anything for the female leads, but thankfully in Dasara, Keerthy Suresh is not wasted. She has been given a very good role, and she has performed wonderfully. While Nani and Keerthy are amazing in the movie, it is actually Dheekshith Shetty who steals the show. He looks damn good and has an amazing screen presence. In the first half, more than Nani it is Dheekshith who impresses us with his performance.

Overall, Dasara is a good massy film with all the masala elements and some damn good performances. So, you can watch it once in a theatre near you.
