MUMBAI: One of the biggest hits of 2022 is the Kannada movie Kantara which starred Rishab Shetty in the lead role, and he also directed the movie. Kantara was released in theatres on 30th September 2022, and after the super success of the Kannada version, the makers decided to dub and release it in various languages including Hindi. 

The movie collected Rs. 309.64 crores (all languages) at the box office in India which is excellent and the film’s Hindi version minted Rs. 79.25 crores. Recently, the movie completed 100 days of its release, and the makers celebrated it with a grand event. It has been announced that a prequel to Kantara will be made.

Well, fans of Rishab Shetty are surely super excited about the prequel, but a few netizens feel that the prequel was not needed. A netizen tweeted, “Was not needed.” Another Twitter user wrote, “Another 500Cr Loading @shetty_rishab Pan India Star.” One more netizen tweeted, “There are some movies which should be left untouched. Kantara is one such movie. Any prequel or sequel seems only like a business proposition since a market is created for such movies. After the KGF franchise, Kantara became the third Kannada film to do well in the Hindi markets. It will be interesting to see if the prequel of the film will be able to make a mark at the box office like KGF 2.
