A few weeks ago, Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer Shaakuntalam was released. It was a Telugu film, but was dubbed and released in various languages including Hindi. Shaakuntalam failed to make a mark at the box office, and while the audience feels that it is Samantha’s first film to get a pan-India release, let us tell you that many years ago, one more film starring the actress had received a pan-India release. We are talking about the 2012 release Eega.

Eega was directed by SS Rajamouli and starred Kichcha Sudeepa, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Nani. The movie was released in four languages as Eega in Telugu, Naan Ee in Tamil, Eecha in Malayalam, and Makkhi in Hindi.

While the film had done a great business at the box office in the Telugu markets, it had failed to make a mark at the ticket windows in the Hindi belt. Well, Samantha, and Nani were not such big names in the South at that time, but now, even people in the Hindi market have started knowing them.

Samantha is currently busy with the shooting of the Indian installment of the web series Citadel. She also has Kushi lined up which stars Vijay Deverakonda as the male lead.
