MUMBAI: Sunil Chhetri’s fans are gushing over his latest Instagram picture with his wife Sonam Bhattacharya.

The footballer has won the hearts of everyone by penning down an adorable note for his wife.

He wrote the heartwarming note to mark their sixteen years of togetherness.

Along with the note, Sunil shared a major throwback photo with Sonam.

The lovebirds started their journey when they were young and today, they are happily married, setting major relationship goals for everyone.

In the note, the footballer revealed that back then Sonam had stolen her dad's and his coach's phone to send him ‘that’ text. Well, the rest is history!

“The picture isn't perfect, but my journey with you has been just that. Sixteen years to the day I met you and I can't thank you enough for braving it, stealing your dad's (and my coach's) phone and sending me that text,” read Sunil’s caption. Sonam too has shared a post to mark their special day and it’s adorable.

That whole 'behind every successful man, is a woman' thing completes 16 solid years today. Fifteen of them have been sharing him with Indian football and I would do it all over again. Life has given us many landmark dates, and this one is up there among the best for me.

Chhetri and Bhattacharya dated for a long time before tying the knot. Sonam Bhattacharya is the daughter of the former Indian national football player and Mohun Bagan legend Subrata Bhattacharya.
