As guest judge on this Friday’s episode of Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, singer Abhijeet voices aloud his utter disdain for faulty voting techniques adopted by talent hunt shows.

“It is not right to vote because of one’s emotional attachment for the participant. Sympathy has no place to play in deciding the fate of talent that will go on to represent our country in the future. The public voting at this crucial stage must be for the best singer and the vote should be based on music alone,” says Abhijeet.

Adding that SMS to him means ‘Sur Mein Sur’, Abhijeet appeals to viewers to vote in a manner that is not bound by emotions but one that brings to the forefront young talent of tomorrow.

The Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 series had also turned ugly with voters from Assam threatening violence if Debojit was not declared the winner. Improving on that method, creator Gajendrra Siingh, introduced renowned two judges from the musical fraternity, armed with two veto votes, in addition to public voting for Ek Main Aur Ek Tu. But, as the talented jodis of Twinkle/Vishwas and Rajeev/Sanchali were eliminated by public voting recently, the debate is once again on whether reality shows should adopt more transparent methods of voting.

With three weeks to go for the finale of this series, it will be interesting to see how Sharib/Banjyotsna and Ujjaini/Aishwarya will fare with the public.
