Chandragupta Maurya conceptualized by Nillanjana Purkayasstha and co-produced by her and Sagar Arts is a historical show to be aired on Imagine and the latest news is it’s going to be a bi-weekly. A source says, “It’s a costume drama the production house is coming up with and the shooting has already begun in Baroda. The show will most probably go on air on February 18. It’s a bi-weekly and will have a run of one hour from 9 to 10 pm every Friday and Saturday. The story is going to focus on how Chanakya played an important role in Chandragupta Maurya’s life. The story will start from his childhood hence the production house has roped in a child artist to play Chandragupta for now. The other important characters are Chanakya being essayed by Manish Wadhwa who was last seen in Mitwaa. Purushbhat and Bhadrabhat are being essayed by Romanch Mehta and Rajeev Bharadwaj. Romanch was last seen in Mahima Shani Dev Ki and Rajeev in Laagi Tujhse Lagan.” Tej Sapru of Kesariya Balam Aavo Hamare Des and Sooraj Thapar of Sasural Genda Phool will be seen playing important characters too. Rajeev confirmed his participation in the show but Romanch stayed unavailable for comment. We couldn’t get through anyone in Sagar Arts too.
