MUMBAI: Actor Devashish Chandiramani is an excellent actor and he has had quite a journey in the industry. As he has recently entered Zee TV show Bhagya Lakshmi, we got chatty with him in an exclusive conversation.

What was your life before an actor?

I started when I was in school and I used to a lot of personality concerts and fancy dress and as a kid I used to love dressing up and playing different characters and when I went to college fashion shows and I was very fat and I was 108 kgs and I was very heavy and I was in a very cool college Jai Hind college where there were fashion shows and I felt I should give it a try and from there my journey started and I started going to the gym and after that I started giving auditions for acting projects but never really got roles, but one day I got a call from the directors of Beyhadh from Sony TV and I was so happy because it was my mom’s favourite show and from there I never stopped. Did you feel you were stars-trucked with Jennifer Winget?

I went mad after seeing her and it was my first time and I didn’t know what to do , and she is so pretty and her voice is so sweet and I never focused on the scene , I was just looking at her and I remember that Kushal Tandon and I were waiting for a scene and spot dada gave food to him but he offered it to me and I felt so happy that he has respect for other artists .

Any take away from your first show ?

The thing that he offered me food is something I respect. 

How is it to fit into Balaji camp?

I auditioned for Balaji many times and always went on top 10 but never got it and there was a show where I was selected as a parallel lead and in the end something happened and they didn’t take me, I was so depressed for 3 days and after a month I got the call from same Balaji camp that I am locked for a show and I was happy and here it was negative role .

What is that one thing that nobody knows about your struggle period?

I am from a middle class family and I used travel from any public transport and I had 50rs and I had to manage either to eat or travel. 

As bachelor actors do not get houses in Mumbai so being a Mumbaikar what do you have to say about it?

Whoever wrote on it must be going through something and people coming out from out stations and staying on a rent and I have never seen anyone backing down and there are lot of opportunities now and I think it is very wrong whatever he wrote. 

What is your character like and what do you like most about your character ?

Rohan is a very cunning guy and very rich to go against the lead and he is also Shanaya’s boyfriend and he is a mastermind. 

Who do you bond with on the sets?

I have only shot for 5 days and I don’t know a lot of them but the directors are very cool and I had a small scene I couldn’t say a line and he made me understand that take your time and pushed me to do better and there’s Aman Gandhi and we shared a room for 2 days and he is very cool and chill guy and Malishka is also very cool and Aishwarya is also very sweet and down to earth.
